Course 3 Evi, Greece "Leaving Episkopi, the time is 8:30 and we are positive!” that is how the first day on field started. But then it was the thrill of the search, the eyes surveying the horizon and then the voice of Annalise “there”. Heartbeat rises, the preparation for the data collection and finally we see them up close. It is that particular moment where everything seems perfect. That moment when you feel complete happiness, alive, full and at the same time so small. That particular time that all the words can not describe. Keep on smiling guys they know you're there for them. Thank you!
Benno, Germany DANKE
fuer diese Woche!
Course 4 Simon, England I don’t want to descend into clichés about it being a ‘magical’ experience or other such nonsense. It was quite simply a brilliant week, spent with great company, learning a lot more than just about dolphins. The dedication of Stefano and Annalise to the project and to making their guests welcome is beyond compare. It has been a truly memorable experience, making we realise how shallow and empty my life at home is!!!!!
Benno, Germany … und
DANKE fuer diese 2. Woche, in der ich hier sein konnte.
Course 5 Simona, Italy E’ l’ultima
Course 6 Luigi, Italy Parafrasando
Sylvia, Austria Thank
you for this great week... we saw four times Tursiops truncatus... and
it was great to work with you on the boat…and to crop and match
the pictures...
Conny, Austria Dear
Stefano and Annalise, this week I’ve had the privilege to see
dolphins for the very first time in my life. I collected new impressions
that
I will never forget for sure. Thanks
to you it was an amazing week!! Thank you for sharing your time and your knowleges
with us and also thank you for your patience on the boat. I really enjoyed the
time with you and appreciate the work you are doing. You are doing a very hard
but also important job, so keep on going!!
Course 9 Eva, Austria Before
I came to Kalamos, I did not really know what would wait there for
me. And then, after a short trip on the inflatable, I saw it - a small
village called Episkopi, with “our” base up on a hill.
From the first moment, it looked comfortable to me. We got a quick
tour through the house, interesting information and a really good dinner.
So - the week could start. Early in the morning - breakfast. And then,
right on the first day, we had our first sighting: we had the opportunity
to see a swordfish and some tunas feeding at the surface. This was
an exciting sight, but it should even get much better!!
Course 10 Kylie, Australia We
have been very blessed with our dolphin sightings, wonderful weather
and a brilliant mixture of nationalities: Italian, Dutch, American
and one Australian – me ?
Dorcie, USA The
week that I have spent here in Episkopi with the Tethys research team
has been fantastic! In addition to all the amazing dolphin sightings,
photo opportunities, and photo cropping sessions, we have had invaluable
lectures and time to get to know each other.
Christa, Netherlands We’ve spent a week in Kalamos with the Tethys Research Institute and because of that, they asked us to write about this experience. It was just a week, but we did do and see a lot… so, I don’t even know where to start. Of course, we had to get used to and get to know each other, but soon we had a really good time together! Sleeping long hours wasn’t in the program because each morning we had to get up early to get on the water. Soon it was rewarded, because we saw a large group of bottlenose dolphins. I am glad that we found dolphins so near to Kalamos each day for three days! We also had a big surprise there, because one day there was a baby and the mother! On Wednesday, we went to another project in Vonitsa. Over there we found a large group of dolphins. But the environment was completely different than in Kalamos. It was very good to see and to experience. Well, I will stop now, because I can go on talking about it for a long time. I am sorry that the week is already over and I have to go, but I did have a great time and it is definitely something I would do again. Thank you, everybody of Tethys in Kalmos. Silvia, Annalise and Giovanni, Bedankt.
Jen, USA WOW!
WHAT a WEEK! No dolphins today... our last day... but we had
a 4-PEAT of dolphin sightings every other day this week! We’ve
been told we are very fortunate! We were so excited to see dolphins
our first day and Silvia got a picture of a dolphin out of the water
with
a FISH in its mouth... the first sighting of that in Episkopi...
as they are bottom feeders. I loved seeing the newborns with their
mamas...
amazing and spectacular! It has also been very cool and educational
to watch
our researchers identifying the animals so quickly and accurately
with just their fins... and to then learn the techniques for doing
it ourselves. Following our samples and cropping the pics, it’s
understandable how the dolphins become so special to anyone who has
this opportunity!
I have had a fun time getting to know everyone at the house... we’ve
had a ton of laughs and memorable moments and made lasting friendships!
I feel very fortunate to have had this experience!
Course 13 Stefanie Every dolphin project is different as this is not the first one I participate in. Three days out of five we saw no dolphin at all, but the other two days were just amazing. Dolphins were jumping everywhere and gave us a great show. But not only the dolphins, mantas and flying tunas make this project special, also the people you share the experience with make your stay unforgettable. No matter where the are from they all have the same passion. Special thanks to Marina, Marcel and Jerome who made all this possible for us.
Gabriele, Italy Ya
Sas everybody!
very strong!!!!
esperienza incredibile!
Alessia, Italy Thank you very much everybody! Grazie grazie grazie and sorry for my bad english.
Robert Hi
All,
Tiziana, Italy 2
weeks have gone... I learnt a lot of things together with you:
Marina, Annalise, Jerome and Marcel... wonderful boys and
girls! Your working days here are “impegnativi” and “emozionanti”,
and simply doing with love and passion what you have been doing since
several years, well... you do a lot, not only for the fantastic
world where we all are living, but even for the people who are coming
to make an experience... You let them discover the respect and
joy for the life. And that´s great!
Course 14 Rosaria and Sara, Italy ... sigh...
è veramente volata via e ora ci dispiace tantissimo dover preparare
Costa e del B&B Team (Black and Beautiful Team) ossia Marcel e
Roi and Lefteris For
us this day is not the last one at the island of Kalamos, but is the
last one of our ever best days on this island. In only 6 days we saw
what we have studied for 4 years and we lived an incredible experience.
All this magic atmosphere was completed by the friendly and really
fantastic team of the three: Marina, Jerome and Marcel. It is really
something that you have to live, in order to understand how is the
feeling of sharing the same interests and feelings with a
team structured from different countries and cultures.
Course 15 Jon, Wesley and Richard, England Dead
dolphins smell!!! Three informative words that will stick with us for
the rest of our lives!
Course 16 Michael Thank
you so much everyone at Tethys, especially to skipper Marina and excellent
assistants Veronica and Marcel. It has been a real privilege to help
you with your important work. Your enthusiasm and passion are infectious.
Five days on a boat watching bottlenose and common dolphins in their
natural environment has been a wonderful experience. At the start of
the week I had a few expectations; they have all been surpassed – I
had no idea that I would have a new set of phrases, “we are negative
stop”, “occasional races”, let alone that I would
learn two different words for carrot in Catalan!
Fabio, Italy Grazie
piu’.
settimana.
Carine Thank
you very much to the team: Marina, Veronica and Marcel for sharing
your knowledge about dolphins but also for your kindness. I learnt
a lot about dolphins and saw common dolphins for the first time. It
was really great. Thanks! I really enjoyed this “international” week
with all the people here! I also discovered Greece during this trip
and this will remain a very nice “souvenir”. I whish you
a lot of success in your future projects.
Course 17 Laurence, Switzerland I
have been to quite many nice places around the world... and I
will add this special one in my memory. A little place of paradise,
where you meet the magic of nature... Amazing encounters with dolphins,
swordfishes, birds, butterflies... wonderful views of the sea and
the surrounding islands... peaceful time under the sun... and happy
sharing between all the people.
Alice, Italy Cosa dire?!
Course 18 Giuli, Italy Una
e cambiare
molte cose di te...
Oliver, France Thank
you very much to the team: Marina, Veronica and Irene for sharing your
passion and kindness. Big thanks to Giulia G. for the good time we
spend together. Being the only guy in the group of 5 pretty Italian
girls
was a great experience. I wish you all the best for the future.
Guestbook 2006
Course 1 Christina, Germany ... smell of the sea and fish, of wild thymian, the sun on the skin, deep blue sky and then – the breath of the dolphins... that must be a peace of heaven... Thank you all for this impressions and for a unforgetable week!
delfini a trovare
pinna dorsale. Naturalmente decidiamo di seguirli. 2 giugno La
mattina comincia molto nuvolosa e ventilata: è un bel maestrale.
Linda, Italy QUI
A KALAMOS MI SONO SENTITA VERAMENTE LIBERA, AVEVO BISOGNO DI NON PENSARE
A NIENTE,
DI STARE CON ME STESSA E CON LA NATURA, DI AVERE CHI AMO AL MIO FIANCO
E NIENTE DI PIU’!
Fausto, Italy …Esiste
Course 3 Maude, France We were very
lucky to see Commun Dolphins TWICE ! And I am very very happy that I could
meet with wonderful persons as our dear Researcher and Assistants, and
obviously volunteers ! Celine, Ireland Thank
you so much for such an amazing experience, I had such a brillant
week.
Thanks
very much for the beautiful time with you! I really enjoyed staying
on this wild island for two weeks, with such interesting and friendly
persons. Of course, it was so great to see the doplhins in their different
habitats, it was marvellous to be here two weeks!
Course 4 Claudia, Germany; Doerthe, Germany; Giacomo, Italy; Sophie, France Not
only the place, Kalamos ‘next to paradise’, but mainly
the crew
Course 5 Silke & Ramona, Germany Thanks
a lot for this wonderful time. My sister and I enjoyed it very much.
We learned a lot and will give all this information to our friends
of course ;o) And don’t feed the cats!
Course 7 Tanya, Canada This was a wonderful experience! I came not knowing what to expect, beyond the opportunity to try my hand at dolphin research. At the end of the week I have not only participated in the research but I had the opportunity to: see a beautiful part of Greece, meet some great people, learn the fine art of Italian cooking, and to wish the course was over a two week period instead of one! The researchers are friendly, helpful, and have made every effort to make sure you get the opportunity to spot dolphins, as well as seem some of the sights around the island of Kalamos and surrounding mainland. Though I was worried about the hours laid out on the website, I now wish there were more than 24 hours in a day! One word or warning, this is ment for people who are interested in dolphin research, if you are looking for a one week dolphin-watching adventure, go somewhere else. If you are willing to learn and actively participate in the research, you will be rewarded with many tresured experiences you never imaged possible. I am already saving my pennies for a return visit.
Course 8 Severine, France A
really great team for a GREAT PROJECT !! I knew that this week would
probably
be an unforgetable experience but it was even better. Of course it is
great to see dolphins, to go to the beach every day but without this
incredible
crew it just wouldn’t have been so great!! I’d like to make
a special thank to Stephano, Chiara and Carlo. If you hesitate and are
afraid of meeting people you don’t know, just don’t ! Here
you will find a very warm and human welcome, lots of understanding, friendship
and sensitivity. And what is even more unforgetable is that all this
goes
with a huge professionalism, a real interest in cetaceans and the deep
will to make things change and improve. This week was not only great
for
the eyes (dolphins, Kalamos=wonderful landscape, beaches and sun...)
but also for the heart (friendship) for the mind (you learn loads of
very
important things about cetaceans, the marine ecosystem, the way they
collect data and all kind of information), for the soul (meeting different
people
from different parts of the world is highly interesting too) and also
(it was and still is my first goal) for Nature !!! this week is just
a
great way of enjoying ourselves and helping dolphins at the same time!
Georgia, Greece I would like to say a huge thank you to the Tethys team. Stefano, Chiara and Carlo you are truly wonderful! A brilliant opportunity to see how dolphin research takes place as well as find out more information about cetacean life and its conservation in general. Kalamos is a beautiful island with a tranquility to be envied. It is the perfect location for such a project and its importance is further enhanced by the presence of both common and bottlenose dolphins in the Kalamos area. The researchers are knowledgeable and experienced and it is inspiring to see their dedication and constant efforts. It was of course an amazing opportunity to see dolphins, but also to meet the people who are studying them and striving for their conservation. I am grateful for a week of dolphins, learning, laughing, feeling content, eating, swimming and so much more. My fellow volunteers, Severine, Chiara and Jacob, are interesting and wonderful people and I am glad that I got to share this experience with them. I am sure we all agree that the week went by far too fast and we wish we could start all over again!
Chiara, Italy GRAZIE!!!! grazie per la vostra passione cari compagni di viaggio, grazie per l’affetto e la gioia, grazie per l’uzo (e il vino… ehm…), grazie per aver scaldato la mia anima e aperto la mia mente, grazie per i colori, i profumi, i sorrisi di un’isola magica, sospesa in un bellissimo sogno. grazie al calore della gente ospitata dal mare, grazie a voi magnifici abitanti del blu e delle onde. grazie infinite ai miei splendidi compagni di avventura, so… this is for you, dear friends: thank you so much Georgia, for your smiles and your joy, every minute, everyday; Severine for your friendly words, your owls and your special sense of humor and thank you Jakub, our strong and sweet Polish guy! You’ve made me felt at home, even if I’m sooooo shy and I can’t speak English!!! grazie, grazie, grazie a Stefano, il miglior capitano che potessimo avere, a Chiara e Carlo per il vostro bellissimo entusiasmo e per i magnifici giorni che ci avete regalato!!
Daniela, Italy Verde,
blu, azzurro, oltremare, terra, cielo, montagne. Ampi spazi per il
cuore e
e unici.
Come
Course 12 Alice-Anne, France Magnifique
experience , equipe sympa et envie absolue de revenir Marion and François, France It
was a very exciting and lucky week with dolphins and humans. Thank
for having us and sharing this precious part of your passion. Really
hope
that your next meeting with the common dolphins will be very soon : we
gonna toast that way! Wish you could keep on protecting this gorgeous
place and its residents for a very very very very very very very very
very very long time.
Course 13 Ilona,
Germany Jérome, France OK,
I don’t
really know what to say, so I just let my mind going.
Corinna, Germany Almost a week has passed since I’m back in the civilisation, back in the world of technology…One week ago life was completely different. …What
did I see and discover on “the big blue”? When
you looked on to “the big blue” you saw kinds of movements – but
what was it really: waves or part of the body of a dolphin? It was interesting for me to get an idea in which way a field is working – how you collect data (also photos) and compare them at the end of the day or your period on the island. Then I also
was impressed by your engagement, your dedication and pleasure for your
work, Marina. Even when the conditions under which you have to work and
research are not easy, you were always positive and interested for your
subject. Thank you for making this great experience – I will carry your thoughts and encouragement in my mind. All the best, Warm regards,
Course 14
We enjoyed that incredible week on a peaceful island with wonderful people, beautyful animals and lots of fun. Of course it was too short. Thanks for all.
Yannick, Germany We
will remember the time….
Susanne, Switzerland We
had a wunderful week here, which passed much to quick and I’m
sure we all often will think back at our time in Kalamos, at the friendly
atmosphere,
the great experience of the dolphins, the peace and the laugther, the
super cooking, at some stupid animals and at Frida...
Course 15
Purtroppo
Jennifer, Germany It’s been one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever experienced in my life. Thank you, Marina, Marcel, Birgit, Manfred, Petra, Elisa, Lara, Zoe, Dustin, Spiti & Meganisi. You have a place in my heart.
Petra, Germany I’m
really happy that I could join that group. I really enjoyed the
time, the boat driving, the dolphins and the lessons. It was a new
experience to see dolphins completely in the wild and I give my full
respect to the wild and to the scientists!... and not to forget
to Marcels knee
for which we have to protect others and ourself J
Manfred, Germany Thanks for
this wonderful week, that Birgit and me ( Manfred) could enjoy here with
you (Marina,Marcel,Petra,Jenni,Elisa). This was one of the best things,
me and Birgit have ever done. We love the wildlife and we are really happy
that we can help to protect (in an indirect way) the animals and help
the Ionian Dolphin Project to go further on. The team was great. We had
a lot of fun,......and we have learned a lot about the dolphins in the
sea. Marina is a wonderful teacher,.....and together with Marcel a perfect
team to explain the seawildlife to the visitors in a very impressiv way.
I will give my best, to help you in your work, when I write a good reportage
about this project.
Course 17 Dave,
England Michael Only been here for two days but we are having a great time. Yesterday we did see dolphins and did the first day of our recordings – reasonably successful but just so exciting and better than coming to ‘watch’ dolphins. Today it was very windy, with a sea state 4 so we had to cruise ad libitum. Stefano very kindly then took us to a cave so we could go swimming. Christine gracefully re-entered the boat like a rising salmon, helped with austrian efficiency by Michél. The wet slapping sound of her impact on the floor of the boat could be heard by the small children in Mytikas. Pished it down with rain so sadly we had to cut short the dolphin spotting today. We found a gap in the downpour and had a lavly walk to Kalamos town. Two of the group lagged behind as the older member appeared to be fatigued, and in fact was saved in the nick of time with arrival Of Sté And Simo in the Red Panda-mobile. The rest of us ( michael, myself and chris) made the trip successfully, unaided and unsupported. A fine sense of achievement pervaded our minds as we sat down for a well earned Mythos in the Taverna. A great afternoon of eating and drinking could only get better after the introduction of Star Wars Top Trumps into the proceedings. 3 italians, one austrian and 3 eeengleesh, round a table in a small Greek island, reading off “battle skills” and “jedhi powers”..........man u just cannot buy entertainment like that. Michael reinforced his Cray 2 reputation by winning at Top Trumps as well as backgammon. As the sun went down and we watched the flotilla sailors returning to their boats, we caught the taxi back to episkopi. Driven by a crazed greek gentleman, this blue van shot round the corners at alarming speed until suddenly we were at home again. Man this dolphin conservation is just so hard on the body and mind. I don’t know if i can go on at this break-neck speed. I am just so stressed out and fed up with the whole thing. If it carries on like this i will catch a boat back to Mytikas tomorrow. Hopefully Spiti (dolphin) and co.will be similarly rested and relaxed tomorrow and so will let us catch up with them and record their every move. I am having the bestest time. I don’t want to ever go home again. I want to change my career and be a Simo or a Stefano and learn about whales and dolphins. Yesh.more tomorrow. Xdave. p.s. ask stefano to show u the videos of the Kalamos project and also of the american marine biologists and the ‘warming up of the oceans’..........and also ask him to make bruschetta. It’s fantastic. Hopefully there will be less chat and more serious research comments tomorrow. xd Thursday 21st September. ( dave again ) the combined intellectual might of england and austria has failed to furnish another diarist and so it falls to me again to inscribe something. A ‘wik-id’ couple of days........today was incredibly sunny and calm, but i don’t think les dolphins like this combination of weather as they stayed stubbornly absent today. Yesterday they made up for this massively as Stefano spotted them very close to episkopi and we stayed with them for over 2 hours, getting 14 readings and lots of photographs. We all are a lot more comfortable with our jobs now and i felt as though we were much more slick and accurate today. Stefano let Christina / Dog / Canis / Eliza ( christine ) drive home and so we arrived home safe, happy, but slightly dizzy and disorientated. Having seen several small boys on the jetty at Mytikas catching fish, we were carried away with the excitement of catching our own supper and had acquired some spinners, line and weights. This was all done before Stefano showed us the documentary on overfishing today. In any event, it made no difference to Michel, me and Jonny as we failed to catch anything at all. I managed to hook the sea bed firmly, but failed to land it. We approached the succesful octopus fisherman in the harbour, determined to make up for our lack of skill with hard cash. He was un-moved by our offers of euros, but cheered us up as he explained there were no fish in the area. This did not deter us, and we returned to the sea with renewed vigour. Amazingly we caught 3 cod, some tuna, squid, sea bass, barracuda, shark, bream and calamari. After some thought we felt it would be wrong to take so many fish from the locals, and ended up giving it all away to the inhabitants of episkopi. After this massive fish distribution, we gave stefano, Michel and Simona a colloquial english lesson. We can now count to 20 in Italian, but they can recite the following phrases: ‘that
guy ( or girl) is well fit’ as well as the words...rank....minging...rough.....dodgy......wikkid......sweet......pukka. and the classic and universal: WO-EV-ARRRRRRRRRR. I feel posterity will show that they got the better end of the bargain. Yesterday evening we also introduced Stefano and Simona to the delights of the ‘name game’; Michel explained they play a similar game in Austria, but he refused to tell us what it is called in german. We found that although Dillon Dog, Lord Byron, Jacques Cousteau and Mana are internationally recognizable, ‘Jaws’, Han Solo and Eliza Doolittle are not. After a tricky initial few minutes, Simona and Stefano forged ahead with correct answers left, right and centre. Back to today: no dolphins, but lots of sun, some frisbee and then serious amounts of souvlaki in the restaurant at lunchtime. This afternoon we started on our piece of art for the house. We collected lots of small stones to do a mosaiic. It’s drying as we speak. It’s of two killer whales and we are very pleased with it. Tonight Jonny and I took a trip with S and S to Kalamos for some supplies. Stefano bought bread, meat, vegetables, fruit and sugar. We, being english, purchased beer and nuts. Back at the house, we met Adonis, backgammon champion of all of Greece. Ste and Simo made the best pitta i have ever tasted – looks like it will be the last meal here as tomorrow we are off to Kalamos for a meal out tomorrow as it is our last day............oh nooooooo. No time for the name game tonight and its now 12.30am and i am tired so am going to bed. Someone else can write something........unless Stefano deletes all this as soon as we leave anyway. neue leute.. neue erfahrung.. neuer abschnitt.. manchmal muss man aus seiner umgebung weg um zu verstehen.. diese Woche hat mir durch Stefano.. Simona.. Christine.. Bea..
Bea, England Saturday 23 September 00.50 Just returned from our meal in Kalamos to celebrate our last night on the island. Highlights were the taxi ride there and back, lightning in the distance and stars overhead, mucho Amstel and, for the lucky ones, getting Adonis’ address. We were also joined by Tony and Dominic who were volunteers in August 2004 and stopped off on their sailing holiday to pay us a visit – lovely guys with the added bonus of being able to speak a language other than Greek or Spanish (Adonis...). Unfortunately no dolphins today, but beautifully calm sea and a great day including the best baklava yet, leftover pitta for lunch and a last swim on the perfect beach. This week has been fantastico – hope to come back and pay Casa Tethys a visit myself one day and will definitely keep in touch. xxx
Christine, England I
really think that Dave and Bea have covered everything about our wonderful
week here so im not left with much! But i should say that it has been
a wonderful experience – we’ve all learnt alot about dolphins,
the work of Tethys and also about how to relax on a greek island, and
also very importantly for me, how to re-enter a boat from the water (see
Dave’s entry above!) Thank you very so much Simona and Stefano,
I wish we could stay!!!
Jonny, England Jonny here, Just come back from Kalamos a little bit pished-up on beer and ouzo. Looking forward to hearing Simone relate her ghost story... she’s promised to tell this to us following a plate of spaghetti followed by skinny dipping and a Roman Orgy... Crikey O’ Reilley, not even Club 18 to 30 was like this. Any road up, my advice to any novice dolphin conservationist is to avoid Adonis at all costas ... beware of Greek trawler men bearing gifts. Turn your back on that smooth talking old fox just ONCE and he’ll drink your fridge dry of Mythos, crack open your pistachios and steal yer women. In many ways I feel I’ve learnt more about life from an evening with Adonis than in the past 36 years...My Lord, where have I been going wrong all these years? Dolphins? Yeah, I’ve known a few in my time. Spiti, Peppo, Elisa.... all very special to me in very different ways. AND... All in all a fantastic week getting to meet really inspirational people doing great things. A huge thanks to Stephano, Simona and Tethys. When I get back to the UK have resolved to make a direct debit to anyone commited to saving the oceans, rainforests and standing against the next Republican presidential candidate. Viva la revolutione
Guestbook 2005
Course 2 Sylvia, Austria I met many
nice people here, it was great to see how and what the dolphin- researcher
work here- above all the reason for this project. Julia, Austria It was wonderful to get an inside view of this fantastic volunteer project. I enjoyed the time very much, of course especially the great sightings! The lessons you offer are very interesting and I am sure that people get a perfect overview on the research work and the importance of the different aspects of it. Thanks to Stefano and Ruth we always had a good time (you are a great team!), thanks to all for the great food and thanks to Tethys for offering these courses which I think are vital for people to understand our work and engagement. Me too, I would enjoy very much to join you again and if you need someone for photo-ID, please call.... Annette, Italy Dolphins
are a journalists best friends! (But nice & helpful researchers
too...) Mel, Austria Thanks for
the nice week....it was a wonderful time for me....auch,wenn my english
was not so good (I'm sooo sorry)...and please stephano ,do not delate
;-) with best wishes Thanks so much for all help. It was a great experience to see dolphins(for me first time!) and taking pictures of them and all the other activities. I enjoyed it very much to spent a week together with such nice people here. Alexandra, Germany Thank you very much for this interesting week, I learn a lot, and if it possible, I will come again, maybe next year. Good luck and best wishes for this wonderful project!
Course 3 Elena, Italy Per
Natalie, England Thank you for a fantastic week. It was great to be able to see dolphins in their natural environment (where they should be!), and get an insight into their behavioural patterns. I have learnt a lot this week and had a lot of fun at the same time. Keep up the good work. Best wishes for the future.
Course 5 Corinna and Uwe, Germany It was the
best we ever did!!! It was more than great and we are very thankful
for the wonderful experience!!!! Veronica and Mirko, Italy We found
the possibility to come here (Kalamos Island) in internet and we thought
that could be an interesting experience (excuse for rural English!!!),
but the week has been (consecutio temporum is right?!? Bho!) wonderful
for company (Corinna e Uwe: They had patience to understand our rural
English, for card game UNO, for their simpatia), for guide (Stefano:
a real lake or bathroom wolf!!!) and for last juvenile dolphin: it
was been very emotional to meet you and see you so close, but you have
to pay attention to human people, they can be bad to you. Jasmin und Christian, Germany Ciao
Carlo & Stefano
!
Course 9 Claire, Vicki, Ines, Stephanie To
Stefano the rabbit & Carlo the pig :)
Course 11 Rich, England Very good week, thanks to all here. I learnt a lot and saw both types of dolphin, even if the common I saw was a little mummified and now in the back yard, maybe that doesn't really count. Also hope that Ilja stays around too.
Course 12 Francesco, Italy "ci
ricorderò a
CIAO Stephanie, England I really found this holiday very interesting and informative. I enjoyed watching the dolphins in the wild like they should be. Even when the weather was bad you learnt what who you checked for the dolphins, it was interesting going to the different places when the weather wasn't good to go out on the boat. Added bonus was seeing the turtles been born and going into the sea. Thank you for a interesting holiday, I would definitely do it again. If the weather is too bad to go out on the boat you could introduce a nature walk into the programme. Valter, Italy Ho
tartarughine
e in ottima compagnia! Cosa desiderare di più?
Corso 14 Janet, England What an
amazing experience! I loved the island of Kalamos with its very quiet
presence which I found an ideal setting for getting closer to nature
once more.
fatto vagamente emozionale accaduto in questi splendidi giorni. Ciao
totalmente ogni singolo animale?? Per me è impossibile, possiamo
Course 15 Fana, Belgium Waw,
what shall I say....? This has been a great week!!! We saw common dolphins
on our first trip...and bottlenose dolphins feeding on our last trip!
I really want to thank you, Marina and Irene ( and Simone too of course),
because you have been really great. I very much enjoyed my first "scientific" experience
with the dolphins and I hope I have the opportunity to work with you
another time. Catherine and David, England We came
to Kalamos without any preconceived idea. We didn't know much about
what would happen and we just had this dream to see wild dolphins and
feel a synergy with nature... So what we discovered was more than fantastic!
We actually met amazing dolphins, but also 2 wonderful women, Marina
and Irene, with a kind smile always on their face! We won't forget
their generosity, their kindness, their envy to teach us about environment,
which are for us one the main reasons of the success of our stay...
and this could as well describe the dolphins: generosity to accept
us around, kindness to show us their life, intelligence and smiles
always on their faces!!!
Course 16 Alessia, Italy E' strano
come vanno certe cose... Silvia, Italy Buongiorno!
Christine, France Thanks a
lot for all. It was beautiful, incredible here. It is difficult to
write my feeling in English but I will go back with wonderful feelings.
The landscape is beautiful and approach wild animals is great.
