Tethys is a non-profit organization. Since 1986 Tethys conducts its research and conservation activities thanks to support received from international organizations, sponsorships from private companies and individuals, contracts for specific projects, awards and individual fellowships, and thanks to the contribution of people participating in summer field courses.
The
offices of Tethys are housed at the Milan
Civic Aquarium and
at the
Venice
Natural
History
Museum. In the past Thetis
SpA also housed a base of Tethys.
The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and OceanCare provide financial and other support to specific projects conducted by Tethys, in the context of a long-term collaboration.
The Earthwatch Institute supports the work by Tethys in the Amvrakikos Gulf, Greece.
The UNEP's Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas (RAC-SPA) has provided valuable support to the work done by Tethys in the Ionian Sea.
The marina of "Portosole", Sanremo, supports the research of Tethys in the Pelagos Sanctuary since 1988, by providing logistical support for the research platform.
